Milwaukee Journal Sentinal Online Launches New Look
Posted on June 23, 1997
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Online has launched a new look and expanded services. The redesign is in conjunction with the site's one year anniversary.
The site features a national weather forecast service, lottery numbers, a continuously updated stock quote and portfolio service, and an interactive site for children. It also gives users the opportunity to send electronic postcards with Journal Sentinel photographs and personalized messages.
"We're excited about this new phase in our service," said Tom Massopust, director of online services for Journal Sentinel Online. "Our efforts have been geared to meet the demands of people who are using Journal Sentinel Online. This is only the beginning. We will be adding new services and features throughout the next several months."
In May, Journal Sentinel Online began posting selected breaking local news stories during the daytime. This is in addition to its regular offering of Journal Sentinel staff-produced stories that appear in the next day's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The site will soon offer users the ability to receive personalized news tailored to their interests. The new design's more inclusive navigation system is intended to help users find their way through the service easily and quickly.
"There is expanded emphasis on the interactive aspects of the Internet," said Dan Patrinos, the Journal Sentinel's senior editor for online services. Strategically placed 'pull-down' menus will help users go from one area to another and back again intuitively."
