Michael Connelly's Bosch Pilot Picked up for Full Season by Amazon Studios

Posted on April 2, 2014

Amazon Studios announced that it has picked up six original series, including Bosch which is based on the bestselling detective series by Michael Connelly. We saw the pilot for Bosch and it was excellent. Titus Welliver does a fantastic job as Harry Bosch, as does the rest of the cast.

Michael Connelly oversaw every aspect of the pilot and has said he approved every thing that went on the screen, and he's pretty excited about the first season pickup. The first season will consist of the pilot and nine more episodes. The first season will draw from City of Bones, The Concrete Blonde and Echo Park. Connelly wrote on his blog, "What is super exciting to me is that the writers' room for the show opens tomorrow and a highly accomplished team of skilled writers will begin sketching out the season and then writing the episodes. I will be there too and am looking forward to taking part."

The show is already in pre-production and will begin shooting this summer. Amazon has not announced the air date yet or if it will be available all at once, or episode by episode. Connelly said he's off to Europe to help pitch the series abroad, where it will appear on Amazon's foreign websites as well as other outlets, including cable. The budget is big, he says with top notch production values.

Amazon also picked up five other pilots to series: Chris Carter's SF drama The After, Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent and Wishenpoof!
