MFI Launches Esports Report Web Magazine

Posted on October 1, 1999

Miller Freeman, Inc. Sports Group, publishers of SGB and a range of specialty sports business publications, have unveiled esports report -- a Web magazine covering the emerging world of sports e-commerce. The cornerstone of the Web magazine will be news and columns covering sports e-commerce and marketing on the Internet.

Chris McEvoy, the Web magazine's editor and launch director, said the idea for esports report is to provide a sports-specific, e-commerce news and information vehicle that speaks on the same level as its readers. "We decided early on not to launch a paper newsletter, or a traditional magazine, to take on this business -- that just didn't make sense," said McEvoy, who is also editor of sports business publication SGB. "As a Web magazine we are delivering news, data and guidance in a package that's familiar to our targeted readership. They're all virtual, so we're all virtual, too."

Editor-at-large and Internet industry veteran, Kellee "Sparky" Harris, will provide at least two columns a month, as well as strategic direction. Other weekly updates will include the esports report "Visitor Log," which will track the most frequently visited e-sports sites, as well as site reviews and "Stock Watch," a listing of the most active e-commerce stocks from all trades. The password-protected Web magazine is being offered free through December 1, 1999, after which time annual subscriptions will cost $325.
