MetalSite Launches Electronic News Service
Posted on October 6, 1998
The MetalSite marketspace now offers industry news and discussion with colleagues on a daily basis. News and industry forums are the first services to launch since the Web community was unveiled in August. The company also announced a name change from MetalExchange to MetalSite.
"Research has shown that people need information beyond product catalogs and brochures -- they need quick access to news and information to successfully perform their jobs," comments Chris Peters, MetalSite executive vice president. "Now MetalSite users can easily access the latest information about competitors, colleagues and the industry and then share that news electronically with co-workers."
Cahners Business Information, the publisher of American Metal Market, Metal Center News and New Steel, is now providing the site with up-to-date news items on a daily basis from industry reporters. These stories will not be seen in other trade publications. Other business information provided by Cahners on a weekly basis includes a calendar of industry events, legislative news, trade association news and listings, people on the move, a glossary of industry terms and American Metal Market's Web Watch column with links to related websites.
