MAXIMA New Media has announced
The Jewish Heritage Online Magazine, a magazine which brings Jewish culture and
heritage to a wide audience of readers. The online publication is
sponsored by the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture.
Following the traditional path of Jewish study - namely using texts
to approach concrete subjects - the
magazine makes Jewish learning thoroughly accessible and enjoyable
using the latest in interactive technology.
Articles are written by leading Jewish scholars, writers and teachers
and are always text-based. The articles in the first edition cover
everything from sibling rivalry in Genesis to What jelly donuts have
to do with a Hebrew root-word.
Jewish Heritage Online also features
an online resources library, with an ever-growing list of
dictionaries, glossaries and the like, perfect for professional and
lay educators, for parents and children, and for anyone interested in
knowing more. In addition, a colorful monthly forum addresses a
selected topic from a variety of angles: through biblical text,
midrash, folktale, art, ethnography, language and literature. The
central theme of the first edition of jewishheritage.com launched
Hanukkah time is FIRSTS: first names, first words, first light, the
magic in firsts, the first prayerbook, the first burial, firstborn
and first fruits. Upcoming forum topics include: Celebration; Money;
Desire; Dreams; Blood; Kin; Initiation. The short, coherent articles
offer insights interesting to both the beginner and the veteran in
the world of Jewish study.
