Marks-Ferber Acquires Pennsylvania Newspaper Group

Marks-Ferber Communications, LLC, owners of free circulation shopper publications and neighborhood newspapers, has purchased the Add, Inc. Pennsylvania Newspaper Group from Add, Inc. a division of Journal Communications, Inc., Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Pennsylvania group publish a total of 12 publications with a combined circulation of over 191,000. The group includes The Carrier Pigeon, a group of 10 weekly shopper publications established in 1969, which is distributed in Northeast Philadelphia; Bucks and Montgomery County markets in suburban Philadelphia, the Bucks-Mont Courier newspapers in Harleysville, Pennsylvania and Philly Health & Fitness magazine.

This represents the first of several acquisitions and expansions the company is planning in the greater Philadelphia market, stated Edward B. Marks, Chief Executive Officer of Marks-Ferber. "We're very excited about this opportunity to combine our 30 years of successful experience in the free circulation newspaper business with the well respected and professional staff of the Add, Inc. Pennsylvania group.
