Literary Traveler Announces Hemingway's Places

In celebration of the centennial of Ernest Hemingway's birth on July 21st 1999, Literary Traveler will present a year-long series entitled "Hemingway's Places." The series will feature articles and interviews highlighting the different places and eras in the life of Ernest Hemingway.

The first installment in the series is The Lessons of Youth, an article which examines Hemingway's early years and family life in Oak Park, Illinois, and at the family's summer home in Northern Michigan. The article also follows Hemingway to Kansas City where he began his first paying job as a writer, at the Kansas City Star. Other articles include Key West: A Reader's and Writer's Haven, and Shakespeare & Company.

Future articles in the series will examine Hemingway's relationship to other international and domestic destinations, such as Cuba, Italy, Paris, Spain and Africa, and a trip to his home in Key West. There will also be information on where to celebrate upcoming Hemingway Centennial Events, and a comprehensive page of Hemingway Links.
