Klein Publishing Announces the Premiere of Bleach Magazine
Posted on April 30, 1998
Klein Publishing announced the launch of their first title, bleach. bleach magazine is a lifestyle magazine aimed at young adults, aged 21 to 35. The monthly publication featuring art, photography, fashion, music, and pop culture debuts nationally in early April with a May 98 cover.
With an eye towards the unconventional, bleach shuns traditional magazine fare and instead offers insight on talented independent artists, photographers, actors and an assortment of unique individuals that might not otherwise receive the depth of attention they deserve. Highlights featured in the premiere issue of bleach include a profile on international model Alek Wek; artist profiles of Llyn Foulkes and Marcel Dzama; interviews with actor Chris Eigeman and 12-year old actress Mischa Barton, a profile on 23-year-old pornographer Matt Zane; a photo essay commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the death Elvis Presley -- including 400 Elvis impersonators; a fashion editorial shot in Little Havana and music features on talented artists such as Jeb Loy Nichols, Everclear, Green Day and the Measles, an unsigned band.
"Our main objective is to bring together striking personalities, images, and words to form a truly different and widely accessible publication," said Michael McCullough, bleach's Editor in Chief. "With an extremely talented staff working on this project, and a strong initial distribution of 50,000, we're confident bleach will enjoy success early on," continued McCullough.
