Kanakaris and Brentwood Media To Produce L.A.WebWatch

Posted on November 20, 1998

L.A. WebWatch is the name of a new publication premiering in Los Angeles which is a guide to live events, downloadable content and the business of the Internet. Jeff Hall, president of the Brentwood Media Group and former president of the Los Angeles Times Valley and Ventura County editions, and Alex Kanakaris, chief executive officer of Kanakaris Communications Inc, announced the joint venture. WebWatch Inc. will be equally owned and operated by Kanakaris Communications and Brentwood Media Group

"This project represents a long time plan by Mr. Kanakaris and myself to work together on a publication which would mate print media with cyber media. It is designed to be a franchise whereby new regional editions can be launched with preformatted editorial and national advertising, and room for localized content and ads," Hall explained.

The premiere edition of WebWatch will have a targeted distribution in the Los Angeles area, described as "one of the world's largest and most affluent internet marketplaces," by WebWatch Inc. It will initially be released monthly, will be free, and will be printed on high-quality newsprint. There will be feature links between the printed paper and Kanakaris' proprietary websites.
