John Hartig Named President of The Parenting Group

John Hartig has been named President of The Parenting Group, it was announced today by Jim Nelson, President and CEO of Time Publishing Ventures.

The Parenting Group, a division of Time Publishing Ventures, publishes Parenting and Parenting's BabyTalk ten times annually, and the prenatal annual magazine, Parenting's Healthy Pregnancy.

Hartig was most recently Director of Consumer Marketing and Development for In Style, a position he has held since June 1993. Previously, he was Associate Consumer Marketing Director for People magazine. He initially joined Time Inc. in 1985 as National Automotive Ad Sales Manager for People in Los Angeles. From 1988 to 1989, he was Marketing Development Manager for a strategic planning group at People and then served as Director of Sales Development for the magazine from 1989 to 1991.

Prior to joining Time Inc., from 1981 to 1985, Hartig was an Account Supervisor with Los Angeles advertising agencies -- Dailey & Associates and Needham, Harper & Steers -- and public relations agency, Rogers & Cowan. Hartig has a B.A. in journalism from California State University and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
