Posted on August 25, 1997
CMP Media Inc. announced that Jessica Adelson has been named to the new position of Editor of NetGuide, a guide to the Internet at www.netguide.com. A key site on CMPnet, the Technology Network launched by CMP last month, NetGuide offers users easy access to search tools and focused content channels (e.g. Computing, Internet, Money, etc.) to help them make efficient use of their time online.
"Everyone knows there are millions of Web sites out there, and that traditional search engines often fall short in helping people find exactly what they need or where they want to go," said Adelson. "That's why NetGuide combines search and focused content -- so users don't have to wade through the junk to get to what they really want. Our Guides, real people who put their names and faces on the Web, are experts in specific content areas. Their entire mission is to get you exactly the information you're looking for as quickly as possible."
Within each of NetGuide's channels of content (Computing, Internet, Money, Entertainment, Sports, Health, News, Living, Shopping and Travel) users can find information including best sites, how-to features and daily listings of online events.
Adelson, most recently Director of New Media and Business Development for NetGuide, has been focusing her energies on the Internet since it started its ascent four years ago. She joined CMP in 1994 as Director of Online Services. Prior to CMP, Adelson worked in new media at Times Mirror Magazines. A graduate of Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. with a BA in English, Adelson received her Master's in International Affairs specializing in Media from Columbia University.
