Jeffrey Zeldman Launches Site Offering HTML and Design Help
Posted on July 25, 1997
A mixture of services and entertainments fuels Jeffrey Zeldman Presents, the ambitious and award-winning personal site of writer/web designer Zeldman, who was one of the first creative professionals on the web.
For site designers, there are free icons and background patterns, and an extensive collection of HTML and web-building tips collectively titled "Ask Dr Web." And the doctor means business: Zeldman personally answers a wide range of technical and conceptual questions from visitors at all levels.
The award-winning graphics are formatted for the web, the Macintosh desktop, and Windows, and include instructions and creative tips. The topics of Dr Web range from the basics ("HTML For Smarties," "Dr Web's Graphics Clinic") to more esoteric issues of contemporary web design.
Entertainments for the casual surfer include The Advertising Graveyard, a sometimes shocking series of real advertisements which were killed by frightened clients; Celeb Salon, quicktime movies of actors, actresses and directors interviewed by Zeldman; Gipplex, an ambient gallery of mini-movies in gif animation format; Mr. Jenkins's Last Martini, the web's first alcoholic haiku contest; and many others.
