Jeff Gannon Considering Blawgsuit

Posted on February 20, 2005

Newsweek reports that Jeff Gannon, the "reporter" who resigned after blogs indicated that he was not using his real name (James Guckert) when he lobbed softballs at the president during press conferences. Blogs started investigating Gannon after his last question to the President contained false information about what Democractic Senator Harry Reid had said. Gannon did not say specifically what material his lawsuit would be about. He has not denied any specific charge. In a recent interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper, Gannon did admit to making mistakes in his past.

According to Newsweek, Gannon did single out Media Matters for a potential lawsuit. Other than Media Matters, Gannon did not indicate which blogs, newspapers and websites he is considering suing. He also did not indicate whether he would sue under his real name or his fake name.
