Isaac Mizrahi's Sandee the Supermodel on DreamWorks' Runway

DreamWorks Pictures has optioned the rights to the new comic book, The Adventures of Sandee the Supermodel, it was announced by co-heads of DreamWorks Pictures Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald. A satirical look at the fashion world, Sandee is the brainchild of internationally renowned designer Isaac Mizrahi, who is attached to produce the project with his partner, Nina Santisi. Following the live-action big-screen version, the deal calls for a potential animated television series.

The three-part comic book follows the exploits of Sandee, a 5-foot-9-inch, natural platinum blonde beauty. Sandee is "discovered" in a New York coffee shop by a famous designer names Yvesaac -- who bears a striking resemblance to the story's creator. Written by Mizrahi -- who, as Yvesaac, serves as the story's self-described Greek chorus -- and illustrated by William Frawley, the comic books The Adventures of Sandee the Supermodel lampoon the pitfalls and personas of the fashion world.

Mizrahi commented: "I'm so excited about working with DreamWorks because I feel that we share the exact same vision for the project. From our very first meeting, they contributed to my own concept, and I am especially looking forward to learning from them in the creation of this film."
