INX Launches Web Directory To The Printing Industry
Posted on March 10, 1998
INX International Ink Co. has launched the PrinterSpace web site, a free service Internet directory of commercial, publication, packaging and specialty printers. Located at printerspace.com, PrinterSpace contains a directory of over 100,000 printers and print buyers worldwide, PrinterSpace allows printers to add and edit listing with pertinent information describing their services and area of specialization. Space is also devoted for phone numbers and addresses, including email and home pages. PrinterSpace also provides access to other web sites that can link associations, educational programs, suppliers, trade journals and books related to the printing industry.
A separate Newsgroup for the printing industry is available through PrinterSpace. Located at misc.industry.printing, it contains articles on a wide variety of topics including environmental issues, prepress, process management, raw material sourcing, trends and training. Going one step further than the newsgroup, a roundtable discussion area on the web includes more topics such as equipment for sale and wanted, and jobs available and wanted.
Stephen Spencer, founder and president of Internet Concepts LLC, began developing the PrinterSpace web site for INX in 1995, and is responsible for the continuous updates and expansion of the site.
"PrinterSpace does much more than help print buyers and printers find each other through its large global directory of printers," said Spencer, whose company is located in Madison, Wisconsin. "It also creates a virtual community for them to interact and exchange information. PrinterSpace directs users to relevant and useful printing-related content throughout the Web with its multi-site search engine and directory of resources." INX International Ink. Co. is a global operation with over 50 manufacturing plants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
