Intuit and Transium Launch Print Article Archive Source

Posted on August 5, 1998

Intuit Inc., and Transium Corporation have launched on Quicken.com, a print Article Archive source, providing access to company news and research from over 1000 print publications, archived back over 4 years. Key print publications include summaries from the Wall Street Journal, Fortune, and Business Week.

"Most investment sites provide only one type of company news -- breaking news from a wire service like Reuters," commented Jay O'Connor, Director of Product Marketing, Quicken.com. "Quicken.com provides that traditional source and dramatically broadens the universe of relevant articles available to our users, with two additional, innovative legs. We've coupled our print Article Archive, launched today, with our existing NewsTracker feature, which offers access to online articles from over 300 of the Web's top newspapers and magazines."

Transium's technology allows consumers to search by company or topic, and then categorizes and groups articles by related sub-topics. For example, if a consumer looks up IBM, 7,905 articles will appear. These articles are then automatically grouped into functional categories, such as Advertising & Market Research. Consumers can also search for articles by publications, product, countries or related companies.

A summary or abstract is available for free for all articles. In some cases there is a supplemental charge of one to three dollars for the full text of an article. Through Transium's Relevance Engine, major articles are available from over 1000 business-related journals, either as full text documents or summaries from business publications including The Wall Street Journal and the NY Times, as well as specialty journals such as Ad Week, Chemical Week and the Communications Week. In addition, English language abstracts of international journals including the Nikkei Financial Daily and Computerwoche are included. Articles are added daily to the archive, with a 1 to 5 day delay from the time an article is printed to when it appears in the archive.
