Internet Tourbus Celebrates Second Birthday
Posted on September 15, 1997
The Internet Tourbus, a free, e-mail based newsletter highlighting some of the best sites on the Internet, celebrated its second anniversary by passing the 80,000 subscriber mark, making Tourbus one of the world's most popular Internet newsletters.
Co-authored by Bob Rankin, author of "Dr. Bob's Painless Guide to the Internet" and Patrick Crispen, a University of Alabama senior majoring in Economics, the Internet Tourbus is distributed to readers in over 120 countries. Archives of Tourbus' previous posts can be found on the Tourbus' site.
Each Tourbus post gives an in-depth tour of a particular Internet site, tool, or issue. Over the past few months, Tourbus has visited powerful search engines such as Alta Vista and Dogpile, toured interesting Internet sites ranging from an anagram generator to a library of the literature of the Holocaust, and discussed important Internet issues such as browser cookie files and computer viruses.
Update: The Internet Tourbus is no longer being published. The last issue was published in October 2011.
