Interent Mom Dubbed Queen of Pulp Fiction

Lynn Knowles, dubbed "Queen of Pulp Fiction," by Times-Scripps' Newsday, has built a unique service in which readers can buy a made-to-order copy of a campy paperback novel, Emerald Seduction, by Desirée Lamour (aka Knowles), via the internet. The book has all the elements of a good trashy romance, only the purchaser specifies the characters' names, occupations, and other personal data.
It seems Knowles, whom Newsday describes as the "playful genius behind this publishing phenomenon," has created fireworks on the internet, as well as between the covers of Emerald Seduction, from what this single mom thought would be a "fun home-based business." Personal Passions (the publishing company founded by Knowles) has appeared on dozens of national and international media including Good Morning America Sunday, LA Times, and Playboy, who describes Emerald Seduction as "more funny than naughty."
"Which it is," laughs Knowles, "we're selling romance --not sex-- but with a lot of humor and heaving bosoms." When asked how she accounts for this seemingly instant success, Knowles says "people love reading about themselves and each other in a fantasy mixed with reality that's romantic and playful."
