IHS Group Acquires Leading Canadian Financial Services Directory

Information Handling Services Group Inc. announced the acquisition by its IHS Micromedia subsidiary of the print version of the Guide to the Canadian Financial Services Industry from Thomson Corp.'s Globe Information Services. The Guide to the Canadian Financial Services Industry is a comprehensive of all major financial services companies active in Canada, along with information on key industry executives.

Michael J. Timbers, chairman and CEO of IHS Group, explained that "the Guide will be merged with IHS Micromedia's own Financial Services Canada to produce Canada's definitive financial services industry reference directory." He noted that "business and library users will ultimately benefit from IHS Micromedia bringing together the best aspects of each individual publication."

IHS Micromedia is Canada's largest publisher and distributor of proprietary and third-party directories, CD-ROM and Internet database products for the business and library markets. Its products incorporate information on Canadian companies, Canadian newspaper and journal archives, as well as additional scientific and technical information. IHS Micromedia is also the Canadian distributor for a number of international publishing groups, including IHS Group, SilverPlatter and Disclosure.
