IEEE Computer Society Appoints Editor-in-Chief

Construx Software Builders, Inc. announced that Dr. Doris L. Carver, president of IEEE Computer Society, appointed Steven C. McConnell to serve as editor-in-chief of IEEE Software magazine. Dr. Carver made the appointment with the recommendation of the IEEE Publications Board and with the consent of the IEEE Board of Governors.

McConnell is chief software engineer at Construx Software, a custom software development and related-services company located in Bellevue, WA. McConnell has been the editor of IEEE Software's “Best Practices” column since January 1996, and is the author of three best-selling books on quality software development: Code Complete (Microsoft Press 1993); Rapid Development (Microsoft Press 1996); and, most recently, Software Project Survival Guide (Microsoft Press 1998).

In response to the appointment, McConnell replied, "I am honored to be editor-in-chief, and look forward to advancing the art and science of software engineering by continuing IEEE Software's tradition of publishing intelligent, relevant, well-written articles on software-related subjects."
