IDG's InfoWorld Names Phil Branon Publisher

International Data Group (IDG) has announced the appointment of Phil Branon to Publisher of InfoWorld, the enterprise computing newsweekly.

"Phil's promotion to publisher will enable us to continue to grow sales and revenue at a record pace. Phil is a champion of customer service. I am confident that our customers will be thrilled by his new appointment," said Stephen Moylan, CEO and president of InfoWorld. "This promotion also acknowledges Phil's notable contributions to InfoWorld in the past year, among them our record sales performance in 1998 and the tremendous success of our twentieth anniversary issue, which brought considerable industry recognition and the most ad pages ever sold in a weekly edition."

In his last five years, Mr. Branon has been responsible for various elements of the sales and marketing initiatives at InfoWorld. In his most recent post as vice president and national associate publisher, Mr. Branon has served on the publication's management team, helping to drive the strategic direction and management of the organization.

Before joining IDG, Mr. Branon was national sales director of Integrated Marketing for Cahners Publishing, where over ten years, he held senior sales and marketing positions. Prior to this post, Mr. Branon worked in various sales roles for National Semiconductor and General Electric. He began his career with IBM after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BS in mathematics from the University of Vermont.
