How Steve Rubel Blogs

Posted on August 11, 2005

Steve Rubel runs a popular blog called Micropersuasion.com that covers blogging, citizen journalism, marketing and technology. Debbie Weil has a post in her BlogWrite for CEOs blog where she explains how Rubel keeps his blog going. She interviewed him at Starbucks for her upcoming blogging book. To blog like Steve you need to get up very early (4:30 or 5 AM) and blog and then blog again in the middle of the day and then again in the evening. Steve writes short 100 to 150 word posts and uses Del.icio.us to provide a daily linkblog for his readers. Debbie says Steve saves longer posts for for just a couple times per week.

He doesn't consider this kind of blogging as "writing." The blog posts are quick annotations of 100 to 150 words - or fewer. Only once or twice a week does he take the time to write something longer ("It takes more time and thought").
Note: Steve Rubel's Micropersuasion blog archives appear to be gone. The blog now forwards to steverubel.me.
