Equestrian enthusiasts will find much to savor at the new website for Touchstone Pictures' romantic drama The Horse Whisperer. The site provides photos, biographies, video and sound clips from the film, and also offers links to the top equestrian sites as well.
A special "Whisperers" area provides a profile of Buck Brannaman, the Wyoming horseman who was the inspiration for the Nicholas Evans book The Horse Whisperer, upon which the movie was based. "Horses and life, it's all the same to me," Brannaman said. This real-life horse whisperer also served as the technical adviser on the film.
The "Whisperers" section also houses links to other sites of interest to equestrians, such as Equisearch, the U.S. Equestrian Team, American Quarter Horse Association and the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, among others. A chat room and bulletin board hosted by Equisearch for The Horse Whisperer, allows horse enthusiasts to trade tips and secrets on horses and riding.
Redford directs the film from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Richard LaGravenese, based upon the novel by Evans. The film is produced by Redford and Patrick Markey.
