Home & Garden Television Launches HGTV Village Website

Posted on October 19, 1998

Home and Garden Television (HGTV) has launched HGTV Village, a new resource where home enthusiasts can find editorial features and information on home improvement projects. The Village is designed as a virtual home and garden town where visitors can browse to get ideas, information and products. Users can find details on how-to projects, gather design tips, pick up decorating ideas, tour show houses, check out new products, read the latest home and gardening news from around the world, review local weather reports and chat with industry experts.

"Now HGTV viewers and other home enthusiasts have a very compelling place to go on the web," said Channing Dawson, HGTV's senior vice president, new media. "The Village is a real destination, a place for people with common interests in home and gardening to find home-related information, watch multi- media presentations of how-to projects, shop for new products, engage in chats and continue to share their interests in a variety of forums and bulletin boards."

Headquartered in Knoxville, Tenn., with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Detroit, HGTV is distributed to nearly 45 million U.S. households. HGTV is wholly owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, which also operates the Food Network.
