Hollywood Reporter to Become Weekly Magazine

Posted on September 15, 2010

The New York Times reports that the Hollywood Reporter is going to become a weekly magazine. The daily Hollywood Reporter will continue, but the format will change to a PDF file. The Times says the brand needs to completely reinvent itself in order to survive. The article says revenue at the paper has fallen from $50 million four years ago to about $30 million today.

The Hollywood Reporter has launched a number of blogs and now has lots of daily content on the THR website. Times have changed and greater immediacy is needed to keep up with news in the film and tv industry.

The Times article says the weekly glossy Hollywood Reporter magazine will include feature articles and photo spreads. The newsstand price will be $5.99.
