Helga Tilton Appointed Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Market Reporter

Helga Tilton, Ph.D, has been named editor-in-chief of Chemical Market Reporter effective with the issue of March 23, 1998. She has been managing editor of the newspaper since 1996. Chemical Market Reporter is the publication of record for the worldwide chemical industry. Founded in 1871, it has been published every week since by Schnell Publishing Company, New York City.

Dr. Tilton joined CMR in 1986 writing on drugs and fine chemicals, later adding coverage of inorganics. She is well known to the industry as the developer and editor of the paper's market-driven, in-depth Focus Reports, special separate publications appearing in CMR seventeen times a year.

Dr. Tilton began her professional writing career as a freelancer reporting on cultural trends for U.S. and European publications. She earned her Ph.D at New York University, after studying journalism and literature there and at Columbia University, preceded by her initial exposure to the subject of chemistry in Frankfurt, Germany.

In addition to her CMR responsibilities, she teaches German to graduate students at the New School for Social Research in New York City, and serves as coordinator of German in the department of foreign languages. She is also the author of a textbook on German grammar.
