Hearst Magazines and K-tel to Launch Music Series

Posted on August 14, 1998

Hearst Magazines Brand Development and K-tel International (USA) have joined forces to produce a series of CD music anthologies under the Cosmopolitan and Esquire brands. K-tel and Hearst will also produce a Good Housekeeping series of children's cassettes on Kid-Tel. The Esquire Essential Music series launches with the August release of Soul Classics. The Cosmopolitan series, Club Cosmo, and the first five Good Housekeeping Kids titles will be available later this fall. All titles will be available at all major music retailers, including mass merchants, record chains and independent retailers, or via the internet at the K-tel Express website.

Packaging for the CDs and cassettes will also resemble each magazine's individual look and position in the marketplace. In some cases, packages will feature tie-ins such as free software samplers, bonus CD mail-in offers and subscription discount coupons.
