HealthScout Launches Personalized News Service Online
Posted on November 18, 1998
HealthScout, a free news service for individuals and families, makes its debut. HealthScout monitors more than 700 topics and provides access to medical resources and directories on each site where it appears.
"HealthScout is not just a web site but a network offering the most reliable, relevant information from many sites," says Editor-in-Chief Terry Dunkle. "It's like having a doctor in your family: someone who knows you and cares enough to alert you the minute news breaks about your personal health."
Terry Dunkle, formerly a top editor of Reader's Digest, heads a news team comprising 18 staff members. Valorie Weaver, former editor-in-chief of Self and current editor-in-chief of the 2.2 million circulation Remedy Magazine, is overseeing the project.
HealthScout is a service of Rx Remedy, Inc., based in Westport, CT. Founded in 1992, Rx Remedy is a leader in the field of health and medical consumer information. In addition to Remedy Magazine, the company's other holdings include an information services business that does large-scale research and marketing projects for the pharmaceutical, managed-care, and other health industries.
