Harcourt Brace Creates New Scientific Educational Imprint

Harcourt Brace & Company, a premier global provider of educational and informational products and services, announced that a joint venture between two of its publishing divisions has led to the creation of a new scientific educational publishing imprint - Harcourt/Academic Press.

Drawing on the resources of Harcourt Brace College Publishers and Academic Press, Harcourt Brace's publisher of scientific books and journals, Harcourt/Academic Press will publish scientific books and software. The new imprint focuses primarily on the professional/reference and higher education markets that are directly affected by emerging scientific research, theory or application.

With more than 50 titles already in print, Harcourt/Academic Press already has established publishing programs in biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, mathematics and statistics. Notable projects include Introduction to Probability Models, 6th edition, by Sheldon Ross, The BioQuest Library V from the BioQuest consortium, and Advanced Engineering Mathematics by Allen Jeffrey.

The global marketing and sales efforts of Harcourt/Academic Press are closely coordinated with Academic Press and Harcourt Brace College Publishers. Harcourt/Academic Press will be directed by its publisher, Michael Sugarman.
