GIST TV and IMDB Announce Integrated TV and Movie Information Services

Posted on December 29, 1997

GIST Communications and the Internet Movie Database announced a co-branded entertainment resource for film and TV information on the Internet.

Sponsored by Roxy.com, the co-branded area will be accessible through both GIST TV and IMDb integrating the huge movie database of the IMDb and the comprehensive TV listing service provided by GIST TV.

The service offers several complimentary features. IMDb users can access a regional TV schedule grid of all the movies that appear on network and cable television for the week, courtesy of GIST. For example, a visitor interested in the films of Joel Schumacher can search the IMDb to find out about the films and then go to the new service to find when they are airing on television this week.

GIST users who are seeking more extensive movie information about a film scheduled to appear on TV, can use the new service to access the most detailed repository of movie information. The service will provide them with extensive data about the movie, genre, actor/actress, director, screenwriter, cinematographer, as well as supporting cast or crew members. Users can also perform additional searches for a specific movie, genre, cast member or other criteria and be provided with a complete television schedule of movies meeting their search terms.
