First Comprehensive Art Print and Lithograph Search Engine Launches
Posted on November 25, 1997
Barewalls Interactive Art, announced its successful three-month debut of the Internet's first comprehensive art print and lithograph search engine. Barewalls.com provides the ease and accessibility of buying art, posters, lithographs and greeting cards directly online at reduced prices. With this new service, art lovers can browse through thousands of different prints available for immediate purchase online.
The site contains thousands of artworks, with editorial content adjacent to each image. Detailed descriptions and previews of an artwork can be accessed by a keyword search or by browsing an index. A powerful and specially cross-referenced database retrieval system helps the user find specific works of art, as well as items of related interest. This can be helpful for an architect or decorator seeking, for example, a blue Picasso.
This holiday season, BIA will be selling art print greeting cards in packs of twelve. The cards cover a wide range of famous paintings and photographs, and they are left blank on the inside for writing. For each dozen cards sold, Barewalls will make a donation to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC), an organization for the promotion and dissemination of research information, diagnostic information, public advocacy, patient and family support for ovarian cancer. Even though ovarian cancer kills over 40,000 women a year in the US (Gilda Radnor being among is most famous victims), it is seriously underfunded and under-publicized (ovarian cancer has very low survival rates - less than 8% after 5 years since diagnosis, and this is due mainly to lack of awareness and early warning). Barewalls is committed to raising consumer support and awareness of the NOCC.
