EMI Music Publishing Launches Online Lyric Catalogue
Posted on January 26, 1998
EMI Music Publishing has introduced the first-ever online lyric catalogue for professional music researchers, located at emimusicpub.com, it was announced by EMI Music Publishing Chairman & CEO Martin Bandier. The search engine enables users to explore the entire online catalogue for specific lyrics, and like the existing song catalogue, offers access to, and soundclips from, thousands of songs from EMI's collection of songs.
The lyric catalogue is completely user-friendly. Researchers simply type the word(s) that best describe the mood or idea they are looking for. Next, the search engine reads all the lyrics of every song in EMI's vast online database. At the end of each list of matching songs, the search will also offer additional synonyms from its internal thesaurus that offers selection of descriptive terms for searching. From feature film music supervisors to advertising agency creatives looking for the perfect tune to use in a commercial, the EMI Web site provides users with a comprehensive array of titles to choose from, in a unique, quick and efficient manner, with no cost to perform the research.
"We are in the business of marketing and utilizing our songs in creative ways," said Martin Bandier, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EMI Music Publishing. "In developing this revolutionary way to expedite the work of music researchers, we are once again affirming our commitment to being the number one, full-service music publishing company in the world."
