Dietcity.com Website Launches

Posted on January 2, 1998

Self/help Technologies Inc. announced the launch of a new Internet site called dietcity.com. The website is designed as a central resource for consumers seeking diet and nutrition services similar to those offered by Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and related companies.

The Dietcity Internet site features a weekly article by Donna M. De Cunzo, R.D., L.D., author of the Practical weight-loss program, an expert-based program that creates a weekly diet plan based on an individual's profile. Dietcity also reviews health related Internet sites, provides diet tips, a library of special recipes, book reviews, and access to fee-based weight-loss and healthy eating programs that are delivered to the consumer's PC at home or office.

To attract an audience for Dietcity, the company is offering its popular $49.80 Healthy Eating program free to all consumers that enroll in the program during the month of January. The Healthy Eating program plans the individual's meals and food selection each week, over a three-month period, to develop a fundamental change in eating habits. The program is personalized around the individual's food group choices, medical and food restrictions, and other preferences. After completing a profile, consumers log-on each week and print out a new seven-day plan that includes meals, recipes, tips, and a custom shopping list to take to the supermarket.

Self/help Technologies Inc. created Dietcity to more efficiently provide services used every day by millions of consumers at thousands of clinics operated by Weight Watchers and others. The company eliminates the need for local staff and facilities, and delivers diet advice, information, and services directly to the consumer's PC via the Internet. David R. Humble, CEO, previously founded two-high technology public companies.

Update: The Dietcity site is no longer live.
