Daniel McCarthy Named President and CEO of Primedia Special Interest Publications

Primedia Inc. has announced that the Company will combine Primedia Special Interest Publications with Primedia Enthusiast Publications, formerly known as Cowles Enthusiast Media, and that Daniel R. McCarthy, 39, previously president of Cowles Business Media and a senior Primedia magazine executive, has been named president and chief executive officer of the combined company. McCarthy will report to William F. Reilly, chairman and chief executive officer of Primedia.

With 57 titles including Fly Fisherman, Horticulture, Crafts Magazine and Sail, the combined new company -- to be called Primedia Special Interest Publications -- has leading positions in such markets as sports & outdoor recreation, history, equine, crafts & collectibles, healthy lifestyles and pets.

"Dan is the one of the best general managers in the magazine industry. He is a proven talent and a tremendous asset to the Company," said Reilly.
