Damon Lindelof to Adapt The Leftovers for HBO

Posted on July 9, 2012

Damon Lindelof has been hired to develop Tom Perrotta's novel, The Leftovers, for a new HBO series. The Hollywood Reporter says Lindelof will co-write the series with Perrotta. It his Lindelof first project since Lost.

The Leftovers follows a group of over 100 people left behind in a suburban town following the Rapture. The people have to try and rebuild their lives after the mysterious departure of everyone else in the town.

Stephen King says The Leftovers "the best Twilight Zone episode you never saw" in a review in the New York Times Book Review. This should make for an interesting TV series, especially with Lindelof involved.
