CyberActive to Launch LicensingWeek
Posted on August 5, 1998
CyberActive Publishing, publishers of GameWEEK, today announced the launch of its second trade magazine, LicensingWEEK. Initially launching as a supplement in the September through December issues of GameWEEK, LicensingWEEK will debut as a standalone weekly publication on January 1, 1999.
LicensingWEEK will initially focus on licensing issues relating to the industry that CyberActive knows best -- computer and video gaming. Editorial content will focus on the licensing of products and brands with specific sections covering key industry aspects: "Licensing In," "Licensing Out" and "Licensing at Retail."
"Whether it's to produce and action figure of "Tomb Raider's" Lara Croft or to create a video game based on The Fifth Element, interactive entertainment licensing has become an integral part of the broader entertainment industry," said Hal Halpin, president of CyberActive. "The branded properties of video and computer games continue to move rapidly into the consumer product market and Hollywood, and vice versa. LicensingWEEK will provide a comprehensive look into the constant evolution of the multi-billion dollar licensing industry from the perspective of the gaming industry."
