CurtCo Freedon Group Launches Co. Magazine

Posted on May 23, 1997

The CurtCo Freedom Group has announced the launch of "Co." -- a magazine focused on computing and communication technology solutions for owners and operators of growing companies.

Premiering as a monthly with the November 1997 issue, Co. speaks to operators of growing companies with under 50 employees about leveraging technology to gain a competitive edge. Through a peer's point-of-view, Co. mentors readers in straight-forward, practical language on technology products, services and techniques through an application-solutions, problem solving format. Based on a 1997 market study conducted by ECS Companies, an estimated 4.2 million small businesses see a need for a magazine devoted to technology issues for their growing companies.

Scott Seltz, Group Publisher of Co., says in a statement, "The challenge for small business owners in growing and managing their operation is understanding the end result benefits that technology products offer to their business. They face the dilemma of knowing that exploiting technology is often key to their companies' success, but lack a source that can interpret, define and advise in their unique point of view."

Cathy Brower, Co.'s Editor in Chief, formerly from Small Business Computing and Home Office Computing says, "Small business CEOs' are hungry for information on how to use technology to compete with the big guys. They don't need to know how the machines are built, they need to know how to use them to stay ahead of the curve. Co. will not only tell readers what tools they need to buy but show them innovative ways to use those tools. This is material they won't find anywhere else."

Co. will be distributed to major newsstands nationwide and supported by a strong subscription campaign with a first year circulation goal of 100,000.
