Posted on September 22, 1998

Cooking.com launched today as an online destination for people who like to cook, offering consumers the most convenient method for accessing a wide assortment of brand-name cooking merchandise, creative content and expert advice.

Cooking.com is designed for anyone who likes to cook and who is looking for new recipe ideas, answers to cooking questions, specialty foods or cooking products. The site's content will be provided by chefs, cookbook authors, restaurateurs, Weldon Owen Publishing and Fine Cooking magazine.

"We developed Cooking.com to specifically meet the needs of the online shopper," said David Hodess, Cooking.com president and CEO. "This exciting Web site offers people who like to cook access to real-time solutions for any cooking problem and a faster, more convenient way to shop than traditional retail stores. We offer a full merchandise assortment and around-the-clock service."

The site also features access to members of the Cooking.com Chef's Roundtable -- some of the world's finest chefs, cookbook authors and restaurateurs. These cooking authorities will provide site content in the form of feature articles, recipes and answers to questions posed by visitors to the site. Original members of the Chef's Roundtable include James Beard Award Winners Joyce Goldstein, Carol Field and Frank Stitt.
