Context Magazine to Address Technological Change

Posted on November 14, 1997

The premiere issue of Context, a new quarterly business magazine, was unveiled to leading executives nationwide. Context is designed to address the most difficult business problem of our day: how to keep up with the blinding pace of technological change. Each issue will feature thought-provoking points of view from industry leaders, academics and authors that are designed to guide corporate executives through the opportunities and pitfalls presented in a world transformed by technology.

Paul Carroll, Context's editor-in-chief, is a former Wall Street Journal editor and author of "Big Blues: The Unmaking of IBM" and a partner at Chicago-based management consulting firm Diamond Technology Partners.

"Technology is not just the solution; it's also the problem," said Carroll. "Context gives executives a framework to think out of the box and seize the opportunities offered by technology."

Context features real stories about real people and real companies that are trying to deal with markets being rearranged by technology. The premiere issue is 80 pages long and includes 29 pages of advertising. It contains an interview with Bill Gates on how technology is becoming more strategic to businesses and offers findings of a recent survey of business executives on their fears and hopes for a world transformed by technology. In addition, it discusses the key questions that CEOs and other senior executives should be asking each other about technology and features articles focusing on how Wells Fargo and Green Mountain Power are developing digital strategies to improve how they do business.
