CMPnet announced today the launch of Net Insider, CMP's latest site addressing the needs of Internet users and enthusiasts. Net Insider features news, personality profiles (that can be read or heard) with interactive elements, threaded discussions and a scorecard that gives thumbs up or down to Internet-related companies and people.
"Net Insider is for the person who has embraced the Internet as their medium of choice," said Jeff Pundyk, Editor of CMPnet. "It's for everybody fascinated by the Net phenomenon." Below are brief descriptions of the main Net Insider sections.
Profiles: Read or listen to interviews with Net activists, critics and entrepreneurs. Users can also participate in interactive activities built around interview topics. Accompanying David Shenk's interview, the author of Data Smog: Surviving the Information Glut, Net Insider users can take a quiz entitled "Are you Choking on Data Smog." Upcoming profiles include CNET's Halsey Minor, Earthlink's Sky Dayton and Net personality Howard Rheingold. Insider Scorecard: A quick thumbs up or down on the day's Net players.
News: Covering the Internet from every angle, the News section is easy to read and gives users a quick run down of the major happenings in the industry.
"Users can check in with Net Insider every day and find the information they want about the Net," said David Sims, Net Insider Executive Editor. "We don't want to overload them, we just want to give them a taste of what's happening on the Internet and who's making it happen."
