Claris Corp. has announced its second annual sponsorship participation in Take Your Children On The Internet (TYCOTI) Week, which takes place Oct. 25-Nov. 1, 1997. Claris is hosting two contests beginning Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997 for children ages 5-9 and 10-14 years of age. Entries are limited to legal residents of the U.S.
The first contest is called "Pumpkins and Pies" and encourages children to tell a story about their favorite Halloween or Thanksgiving character, scary story, or an essay on "What I'm Thankful For" using ClarisWorks For Kids.
After downloading a free trial copy (connect-time charges may apply) of ClarisWorks For Kids for Mac OS, children are asked to write and illustrate their short story. A Windows 95 version of ClarisWorks For Kids is currently expected to become available in 1998 and will not be available for this contest.
The second contest, called "Spiders and Ciders," involves creating a Web page using a free trial copy (connect-time charges may apply) of Claris Home Page for Windows or Macintosh, downloadable from the Claris Web site. With Claris Home Page, children are asked to create a Halloween or Thanksgiving-themed Web page depicting how they'd best like to celebrate their chosen holiday.
