Posted on November 18, 1998

Time Inc. and Burda Holding Gmbh have signed an agreement in principle under which Time Inc. is granting a license to Burda to publish a German-language edition of Time Inc.'s In Style magazine in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In Style is an insider's guide to the lives and lifestyles of the world's most fascinating people, offering inspiration and ideas about beauty, fashion, decor, entertaining and charities. Patricia Riekel, editor-in-chief of Bunte, will be responsible for the development of the German-language edition of In Style. In that capacity, she will be consulting with Martha Nelson, the founding Managing Editor of In Style. Burda plans to launch the German-language version of In Style as a quarterly in the Spring of 1999.

In making the announcement, Norman Pearlstine, Editor-in-Chief of Time Inc., and head of the company's international operations, said: "Burda is an ideal publishing partner for us. So, we're especially pleased that our relationship with them will bring the popular In Style magazine and brand to the German marketplace."
