Book Stacks Online Announces Author Readings

Posted on August 29, 1997

Book Stacks Unlimited announced the launch of an ongoing promotion that will give home page coverage to small presses. To launch the promotion, Book Stacks is broadcasting readings from authors and poets that have been featured over the years in the Pushcart Prize anthology, the annual small press reader. The readings are scheduled to begin August 25th.

Participating in the readings are Saul Bellow, Bobbie Ann Mason, W.S. Merwin, U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, and James Scully. "The Pushcart Prize not only is a personal favorite of mine, but truly represents what's so great about small presses. We thought featuring some of the great authors and poets who have participated in the Pushcart Prize was the perfect way to launch the small press promotion," said Charles Stack, president of Book Stacks Unlimited. "And we're quite pleased that such notable writers have agreed to participate."

Book Stacks Unlimited will feature, on their home page, a different small press each week, with a link to a page that gives detailed information about the press; its history, notable books, and featured front list. Additionally, Book Stacks is adding a Small Press section to its popular gift area, where many small press titles will be featured, along with reviews by Book Stacks' editors.

Book Stacks Unlimited provides a searchable database of 1/2 million titles, 190,000+ online reviews, 35,000+ cover images, a daily Internet Radio Show and online order tracking.
