Book Signing Sets Guinness Record

Posted on September 11, 1998

A world record for the largest book signing by a single author was officially recognized Wednesday by the Guinness Book of Records, marking the 1,642 copies of the New York Times best-selling L. Ron Hubbard/Kevin J. Anderson adventure novel Ai! Pedrito! -- When Intelligence Goes Wrong, signed by Anderson during a recent marathon autographing session in Los Angeles.

Based on an original story by Hubbard -- inspired by a series of actual incidents in the famed writer's life -- and novelized by X-Files author Anderson, Ai! Pedrito! (Bridge Publications) is a tale of exact-look-alike spies and intelligence agencies. In the novel, Hubbard and Anderson transform the old adage that "Somewhere in the world, everyone has an exact double" into an adventure of espionage and intrigue when strait-laced U.S. Navy Lt. Tom Smith discovers that his personal dead ringer is notorious South American revolutionary and spy Pedrito Miraflores, and they unexpectedly change places.
