Publisher's Weekly reports that Betsy Mitchell, the longtime editor-in-chief of Del Rey, has elected to take early retirement. Betsy will leave Del Rey in December of this year.

Tricia Pasternak is the new editorial director of Del Rey Spectra. PW quotes an internal memo saying that Tricia will oversee the traditional Del Rey sf and fantasy publishing business, as well as the editorial content the imprint creates for its IP business. A number of other promotions have followed in the wake of Betsy's departure. Keith Clayton, the current associate publisher for Del Rey Spectra, will also become director of creative development for Bantam Doubleday Dell's IP group. Anne Groell is now executive editor for Del Rey Spectra, where she will continue to edit such luminaries as George R.R. Martin, Terry Brooks and Harry Turtledove.
