The BBC Begins online coverage of the World Cup this week at http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldcup/. The new site features online coverage of France 98 as the sporting event kicks off Wednesday, June 10. The site features news, match reports and analysis from the BBC's sports journalists and commentators. Each of the 32 teams competing has its own homepage featuring player profiles, squad news, group tables and pre-tournament results and match reports dating back to January this year.

The BBC has delved deep into its 70-year-old World Cup archive to provide a multimedia history of the World Cup, which includes audio and video clips. Users can test their soccer skills by entering a Spot The Ball competition to win an official match ball signed by England soccer legend Gary Lineker and other members of the BBC World Cup commentary team.
