Art Wolfe Slide Show Debuts on the Internet
Posted on July 7, 1997
The Mountain Zone (http://www.mountainzone.com) has announced the debut of the official Art Wolfe photography Web site (http://www.mountainzone.com/artwolfe). Wolfe, a highly acclaimed nature photographer and author, has been referred to as "a master composing nature into art," and "an image magician creating visual symphonies for the eyes and heart."
This Web site, which resides on The Mountain Zone, features a unique slide show of some of Wolfe's best mountain photography with streaming audio of Wolfe narrating as the slides change. The site also opffers technical tips, games, prizes, and a store where viewers can purchase Wolfe's books, posters, camera gear, and more. In addition, the site features a series of puzzles which challenge the viewer to detect animals and birds whose natural camouflage allows them virtually to disappear into their habitats.
Most famous for his revealing wildlife portraits, Wolfe capitalizes on an animal's distinguishing features, natural behavior and habitat, and captures an insightful, at times humorous, glimpse into the creatures' private world. Mixing vibrant color, texture, and shape with unusual light conditions, Wolfe is a wizard at creating ethereal impressions of nature. From haunting, misty landscapes to abstract close- ups, the photos jar the senses and awaken the imagination.
In all his projects, Wolfe also documents many of the wild animals and places that may not remain for future generations to enjoy. His photos are at once a profound statement of what is, as well as a plea for preservation. Consistent with this, Wolfe serves as an advisory board member for Wildlife Conservation Society.
