AP's New Blog Thing

Posted on March 7, 2005

Editor & Publisher has questioned whether AP's new blog called "Bad LANGuage: AP's pop culture blog," is really very bloggerific. Editor & Publisher writes:

Seeking to plant its flag in the increasingly crowded blogosphere, the venerable Associated Press launched "Bad LANGuage", an entertainment-news Web log, earlier this month. But is it really that bloggerific?
Even the AP itself is not sure if this is a genuine blog. AP Entertainment Editor Jesse Washington told E&P the service is being tested now, and that more "blog-like" features will come later. Why wait? Why not just launch a complete blog now? Buzz Marketing With Blogs, which is a real blog, has called "Bad LANGuage" a non-blog, which is pretty accurate. AP's blog thing is really just a new syndicated column using the word blog to cash in on the growng blogging trend. Where are the archives, permalinks and RSS feeds? You can't just call something a blog and then all of a sudden it's a blog. Can you? No. You can't.
