Anne Alexander Named Editor of Prevention Magazine

Posted on August 25, 1997

Coming straight from editing a leading magazine on alternative health, Anne Alexander is poised to bring the best of alternative medicine -- and a holistic take on health -- to the pages of Prevention. She plans to reinvigorate, revitalize, and modernize the magazine to make it more relevant to today's readers.

"Health is so much more than treating a problem once it exists. Prevention is going to go way beyond the typical approach to health in most women's magazines," says Alexander. "Today you have to consider physical, nutritional, emotional, even spiritual well-being to create a healthy life. It's all interconnected: What you think affects your health, affects your weight and so on."

Coming in Prevention Magazine:

-- "Proactive Prevention" a new section on how to avoid various health problems, including proven steps to staying well.

-- Bringing leading experts in alternative medicine on board.

-- "Caring for Mom and Dad" column: How to deal with an aging parent.

-- A Q&A women's health column written by a top expert in the field.

-- New writers, new contributors; bolder, brighter graphics; a clean authoritative design.

Since 1995, Ms. Alexander has been Editor-In-Chief of Natural Health where in twelve issues she doubled newsstand sales and increased circulation by 80,000. She brings more than 10 years of health and fitness publishing experience, including stints as Senior Editor at Walking magazine, Associate Editor at Self and Vogue, and reporting for The New York Times, Shape, Women's Sports and Fitness, and Bicycling.
