American Mathematical Society to Publish Its First Math Book for Children

The American Mathematical Society will publish its first math book for children, Really Big Numbers, in May 2014. The book is by Richard Evan Schwartz of Brown University. His previous book, You Can Count on Monsters, became an international best seller.

The book is designed to present the concept of big numbers to children. It begins with small numbers and leads up to gigantic numbers, like a nonillion, a tredecillion, a googol, and numbers that are too huge for names.
